Classes Offered

Studio 180 Design for Hunter Star

 Jonce' Smith

Learn to piece the Hunter Star block using the Studio 180 Design technique that Jonce' presented at MQA Fall 2023 in Biloxi.

Jonce' recognizes the need to contain expenses for MQA members attending a class. To help with this, she's offering the following options for your consideration:

  1. Tool - Only one tool is required for the class. It normally sells for $36, but I will sell it for $25 (30% discount). For anyone that this poses an issue, I can also offer to rent them a tool for class use for just $10. If they decide to purchase it at the end of class, they just pay the additional $15. If a student already has the tool, they are welcome to bring it.

  2. Pattern - The required class pattern normally sells for $12.50, but I will sell it for $9 (28% discount). The completed project size is ~ 74” x 92” and a picture of it is above. You’ll see it’s a fresh, vibrant color choice and design option for a Hunter’s Star quilt.

  3. Fabric - The pattern uses 25 brightly colored fat quarters, 2¾ yard of black for inner and outer borders plus 5/8 yard of black for binding. You may also choose to make a traditional 2 color design using 8 light fat quarters and 8 dark fat quarters for a smaller version. As a third option with minimal to no cost, students can pull all needed fabric from their stash for a scrappy look using the same stated yardage requirements. Backing fabric is not needed for class and may be purchased at a later date.

Watana Cantrell

My quilting journey started approx 20 years ago when my sister i law  said to me “Tanna, you have got to try this, you will love it.  She was correct, I do love it.  At the time, I was not yet retired and enjoyed my little business.  In 2006, I retired and then took my quilting seriously.  I have truly enjoyed my quilting Journey.  Have also enjoyed the Ribbons and Cash Prizes I have won along the way.  Have made many Charity quilts for organizations which are close to my heart.  A few years ago I branched out into Collage Quilting and love it.  I would like to teach and introduce to you, the basic techniques which I use to get you interested in this Art which I dearly love.  It is easy, quick and so very much FUN

The things I have learned through this journey, I love to share with others my God given talents and My wish is for women of the future to love quilting as I do.
